What We Do:

Scholarship & Mentoring Program

The NASCA Scholarship and Mentoring Program offers four placements annually to Indigenous youth who show dedication to their education and great potential in sport and as a future leader in their community.

Each recipient is mentored by a NASCA Role Model who provides support and encouragement in school, sport and life. NASCA acts as a support network to enable the student to reach their goals and dreams. Previous scholarship recipients have gone on to become great athletes and role models, and continue to be part of the NASCA family.

School attendance is a major selection criteria which students must meet. This includes application and attitudes towards themselves and towards the positives of gaining a good education.

Recipients must also possess individual drive and leadership potential, so that they become positive role models in their own schools and communities.

The Scholarship provides these students who live in remote and country communities with the opportunity to participate in sporting competitions and training camps, for which travel time and costs are extremely high. It also enables them to purchase equipment, uniforms and training gear, as well as resources for their schoolwork and study.

The Scholarship and Mentoring Program would not be possible without the support of The John Brown Sport & Tourism Youth Foundation Scholarships for Young Australians and Mr Jim L’Estrange, COO of Star City Casino.
